Today was one of the more interesting in person autograph events in a while. We are on a family vacation to Rapid City, SD and while at Mt Rushmore today, we noticed Nick Clifford was there signing and selling his book about when he worked on Mt Rushmore at the gift shop. Earlier today the kids purchased a Passport to National Parks and will try to get to as many of the parks as they can over their lifetime. I thought it would be cool to have Mr Clifford sign the area where it was stamped with the date and logo. Both kids decided to do that and we bought a book from him. One of the more interesting autographs that is for sure!
Bull-Dozier-ing Through The Mail!
Today was a fun mail day. A couple months ago I found out Brian Dozier was to be signing at the monthly Twin Cities Sports Collectors Club show. Caden had a baseball tournament that day so I asked Dave B (the president) if I could send in a few tickets and baseballs for it. He gladly accepted it and I was excited. Brian was unable to make it to the show on the day it was to happen but it got rescheduled for this month. As luck would have it, I had a wedding for Amy’s cousin in Sparta, WI on the day of the show so I let Dave keep the stuff to get it signed. Today the items arrived.
I got a pair of debut tickets and first home run tickets signed with inscriptions, a pair of baseballs and a couple cards signed and they all look fabulous! Dave did a great job and I am pleased.
A set of the tickets and cards are for my man Jon S in Rochester, NY who has hooked me up with more than I can repay him for. He and his son are HUGE Dozier fans so these will be real nice additions to their collections as well as to mine!
“Glad” to finally arrive!
Today I received one of my regular baseball boxes I send out with my writing on it and a note with 15 cents postage due. I gladly paid the postage due and wondered who took so long to return a package. Back on 2/20/2007 I sent two baseballs and $20 to Dan Gladden via the Metrodome. I had not heard anything so I thought they were long gone. I had asked him to write a story about Game 6 and his perspective of Puckett’s catch and home run and the other with Game 7 and what it was like scoring the winning run for the 1991 World Series. While I did not get exactly what I requested, I did get one signed on the sweetspot with his name and number and the other was signed the same way and had a note on the bottom panel that said “To Kevin, Sorry it took so long!! Best wishes”. Unique that is for sure. Oh, and if you are counting, that was exactly 2002 days from send to receipt. By far my longest wait!
Win Twins!
Today’s mail brought in five signed 2012 Topps Twins cards. I bought them from Bryan S (bryangoreds on SCN) who got them signed when the Twins were in Cincinnati back in June. Nice to get a decent dent in the current years’ cards!
