What a Gas!

Today’s autograph in the mail was a while in the making! Back in February, 2022 Michael D reached out to me via a Facebook group asking what he could do to acquire my pair of David Gassner MLB Debut tickets. He said he collect Gassner items and would love these tickets. He told me he had a connection to David via David’s sister. I told him since I have two and if he got them signed and sent me one back he could keep the other. So, a week or so ago Michael met up with David and got him to sign a bunch of items and my ticket was one. It arrived today and is awesome!

Iwakuma Doooma

Today I received a baseball signed by Hisashi Iwakuma of the Seattle Mariners.  My friend Greg N (justgreg on SCN) gets to a lot of Tacoma Rainiers baseball games and Iwakuma was rehabbing and got him to sign a baseball for me.  Iwakuma had a couple pretty good years the last couple but was beset by injuries this season.  He is back with the Mariners and is looking to keep up his success.  I hope he does well as I have him on my fantasy team!  Thanks, as always, Greg!

Another Trifecta of Packages!

I received three packages with autographs for the second time this week!  This was just as much fun going through them as was the previous day!

I received the final spring training package as well as a 50/50 package and another Call Ball from a Yankee broadcaster.

The first box I opened was a package from Michael Kay.  You may remember a couple months ago I sent a ball for his call of Derek Jeter’s home run in the World Series when he became Mr. November.  I had sent him a thank you note right after receiving it but I put the wrong address on it and got it back so I sent it along with another baseball asking for his call of Derek Jeter’s 3,000th hit.  Mr Kay did not disappoint!  I got a beautiful baseball with his call “done in grand style!”  Thank you Mr Kay!

The next box was a real nice Dontrelle Willis Sports Illustrated magazine.  When Brian W (pumbaa673 on SCN) posted he would do 50/50’s for Dontrelle Willis at the Fresno Grizzlies’ Welcome Home Dinner, I knew I had to send in a pair of mint newsstand SI issues I had.  Brian came through big time with a gorgeous autograph on the SI.  Thanks Brian!

The last box I opened was the biggest.  It was the second “installment” of stuff I sent to Ethan R (ethanoah on SCN) and Kent B (doggle3 on SCN).  They already knocked out a bunch of items for me that I received a few weeks ago.  This box had the second group and remaining unsigned items in it.  The signed highlights were:
Walt Weiss on the Sports Illustrated already signed by Dave Winfield
Yasmani Grandal ML Debut ticket
Taijuan Walker ML Debut ticket
Sonny Gray OMLB
Tyler Skaggs OMLB
Andrew Cashner OMLB
Michael Cuddyer 2011 Topps US275
Jim Thome 2011 Topps Heritage 180
I have been getting stuff signed through Ethan and Kent for a while and they never let me down!  Thanks guys for another spring well done!

Spring Has Sprung Again!

With today being the season opener for the Twins, MY calendar just flipped to summer so Happy Summer everyone!  Even though is it “summer”, I received a couple spring packages today.  Three to be exact!  What a great mail day!  I have a couple more spring packages on their way to me but today was a nice start.

The first box I opened was from Matt M (mightyswede on SCN).  Matt hits the Florida spring training scene for me and came up with the following:
Wil Myers ML Debut ticket (gorgeous!)
Nick Markakis SI (already signed by Adam Jones)
Jason Grilli SI
Great job Matt and thanks!

The next box I opened was from Christian B (hheroes10 on SCN).  As I mentioned in the past, Christian has been getting me autographs in Arizona for a long, long time.  At least five years between the Arizona Fall League and spring training.  This spring he got me the following:
Addison Reed OMLB
Adam Eaton OMLB
Wade Miley ML Debut ticket with inscription
Mark Trumbo ML Debut ticket
Tommy Lasorda SI
Christian does a great job and I cannot wait to send him my list of guys for the AZ Fall League!  Thanks Christian!

The last box I opened was from my guy Paul C who works the Ft Myers area for me during spring as well as during the Florida State League minor league season.  This was the final box of spring training items and he did not disappoint!  The box from him contained the following baseballs:
Mookie Betts
Byron Buxton
Anthony Ranaudo
Bryce Brentz
Barry Larkin with HOF (beautiful!)
Koji Uehara
Another great box from Paul!  Thanks for all the great baseballs!

I look forward to receiving the next boxes of goodies from my friends who work spring training for me!
