No, not THAT Pat Mahomes. THAT Pat Mahome’s father Pat. A year or so (?) my pal Jeff D from the Seattle area gave me a bunch of Mariners tickets from all the games he went to and saved. I got a couple signed and today I added another. On April 21, 1992 Pat Mahomes got his first Major League win and Jeff was there! IBExclusives and PastPros recently had a signing with Mahomes and I sent in the ticket and received it today. They got Pat to sign it with “1st ML Win”. It looks great!
Tony O
Today I received a really cool addition to my collection. On Opening Day, April 6, 1973 the Twins were at Oakland playing the A’s. With Catfish Hunter on the hill for the A’s and in his first at bat, Tony Oliva hit a home run becoming the first person to homer as a designated hitter. I acquired the ticket stub a couple months ago and sent it in for FanHQ’s autograph session with Tony O. Tony signed it with “1st DH HR”. Shaun and his crew at FanHQ do an awesome job with things. I am excited with how this ticket turned out!
Falling Off a Cliff
Today I received a pair of packages and each had Sports Illustrated magazines in them. The first was my 10.10.2016 Cubs World Champs issue that Marco Pedraza got signed by Miguel Montero during a recent private signing event. I now have seven autographs out of the nineteen players on the cover. I started thinking maybe I would get one or two. I doubt I will ever finish it but it is a fun little project.
The other package came from Sam L (kitten6 on SCN) who got Cliff Lee to sign three of my magazines. I got a pair of the 10.03.2011 issues completed that were previously signed by Ryan Madson. The other issue is from 04.04.2011 and was previously signed by Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt. I now have three of the five players on it. Unfortunately Roy Halladay passed away so I am only down to one more, Joe Blanton.
It sure was a fun mail day!
Layin’ Down The Law
Today I received a card that I purchased from Christopher W (cjw916 on SCN). Christopher told me he and his dad would go to the Metrodome and wait for autographs after the games and one time he got Matt Lawton to sign his 2000 Topps 262 card. What is cool about this card is that it is the last Matt Lawton Topps Twin card I needed to have all of Matt’s cards PLUS it was the last card I needed to complete the 2000 Topps Twins team set!
