Pass The Buck!

I love getting the mail on Mondays.  It usually yields a package or two and today was no different.  While I did not receive exactly what I was after, at least both people were kind enough to sign the baseballs and return them.

The first package I opened was a baseball signed by Rich Rollins.  A friend of mine is working on getting me a ticket to the 1962 Twins game when the Twins hit two grand slams in the same inning.  I started looking into that event and found that everyone involved  has passed away except for Rich Rollins who scored in both slams.  I sent a Story Ball request to him asking what he remembered.  It was neat to read his memories about it.

The second package was a request I sent to Joe Buck a while ago asking for his 2004 call of the final out of the first Red Sox World Championship.  Unfortunately, he just signed his name.  Kinda missed the purpose of me sending it (for his call).

Thanks Champ!

Today I received a story ball from Champ Summers.  I asked him to write about what he remembered about the Disco Demolition Night back in 1979.  I chose to write to him because Pat Underwood mentioned in his story ball that he remembered “Champ Summers calling time-out to get a helmet to play rt. field”.  I thought it would be neat to get Champ’s thoughts.  He replied that he got the helmet because people were throwing pieces of records that were sticking into the ground.  Pretty neat memory.

A Great Mail Day!

Today was a great mail day.  I received items from three places.

The first was from MLAM.  They recently sent out a couple emails regarding highly rated prospects that they got to sign baseballs at the All Star Game and two guys listed I wanted.  Both are known for being difficult signers and I knew the only way I could get them the way I wanted them, at this time, was to get them via MLAM.  Today a pair of blue ink, sweetspot autographed baseballs signed by Francisco Lindor and Manny Machado showed up.  The service from MLAM was great!

Also arriving was my tickets and cards from last weekend’s Chili Davis appearance at Fan HQ.  I was unable to go because Caden had a baseball tournament so I sent in the last two cards I needed signed by Chili.  I am now down to needing just ONE more card signed  for the 1991 10 Year Anniversary Card set.  That is Mark Guthrie.  Hopefully some day.  So, I got the 1991 10 Year Anniversary card signed as well as the 1991 Topps Traded cards signed by Chili Davis.  Fan HQ also did a private signing with Trevor Plouffe so I sent in a ticket from his ML Debut and his first HR game.  I wanted the inscriptions and knew this was the best way to get them.  They all turned out awesome.

Finally was something I was waiting on for a while.  I traded some cards with Clint R (cardfan4ever on SCN) and sent him an Eric Hosmer ML Debut ticket to get signed.  He got it signed and I received it today.  Another ticket to the collection!

The Zack Attack!

I recently did a consignment with Neal T (TuckerKCRoyals on SCN) to get a couple baseballs signed by top prospects at the All Star Futures game.  Neal came through with Zack Wheeler for me.  Zack is the #22 overall MLB prospect and is in the Mets organization.  Not only did Neal get it signed the way I wanted but he also got it signed using the ink pen I sent and provided an awesome summary on where and when he got it.
