Wade’n Through The Mail

Today was a great mail day!  I got in only one package but it was a good one!  Last week I sent Wade Boggs the two Sports Illustrated magazines he was on the cover of and a check for $40 to All Children’s Hospital and today they were returned signed!  One was signed with HOF 05.  He even used the marker I provided.  Great additions to the collection!

Justice Is Served!

Today’s mail brought a signed David Justice Sports Illustrated magazine.  Scott Smith, the SI King, went to Lake Tahoe for Michael Jordan’s golf tournament.  He offered to get a number of people’s autographs on a consignment basis.  I sent in my Justice regional issue and got it back today signed perfectly.

What is neat about this issue is that it is one of four regional issues released that week for SI.  It was one per each of the four teams playing in the LCS for each league.  I already had Shane Spencer (Yankees), John Smoltz (Braves) and Greg Vaughn (Padres) and only needed the Braves Justice.  I now have all four newsstand issues signed!

That is just the ticket!

Today I received a ticket that I sent in to Chriss P (bigpog on SCN) for a private signing for Carlos Santana.  It was cool that it was the only way I figured I could get an inscription on the ticket.  Chriss did a great job and I got it today with MLB Debut on it.

I also received the SI that I had sent to Bobby Doerr earlier and most recently Bill Monbouquette.  Bill signed it perfectly and included a real nice note and a photo personalized to me.  He said the donation I sent to him will go to the Jimmy Fund.  It was another neat day of additions to the collection!

Robert Pershing Doerr

Today I received a special issue Sports Illustrated that celebrated Fenway Park’s 100 years.  SI issued two versions; one with an old black and white photo from 1965 and a newer colored photo.  I sent the black and white one to Bobby Doerr a month or so ago along with $5 and got it back with the autograph all bubbled due to the glossy cover.  I had even included a Staedtler to use.  I removed the autograph and resent it with a note to please use the marker provided and another $5.  It looks much better this time around.  He included his HOF 86 on it as well.
