What a Sport

Brian Kritz recently posted some older signed Sport magazines for sale on a Facebook group. I have purchased items from Brian in the past and he does a great job on things.
The package I received today included:
02.1952 Al Dark
05.1953 Bob Lemon
02.1955 Al Dark
05.1959 Hank Bauer @ 2

These guys all signed through the mail but I did not get into Sport magazines until after they passed away so it was real nice to be able to add these to my magazine collection.

Flipped Over!

Dan Gladden has not signed the Sports Illustrated magazine where he collided with Greg Olson in the 1991 World Series for a while. Years ago he was at an appearance and Cami had a photo of the collision and he personalized it to her and had a really cool inscription. I was waiting for a private signing with Dan so I would not have to deal with an inscription or anything else like that. I saw that Guy Puglia had a signing with Dan so I sent in the magazine that I had Greg sign just a couple months ago and received it back today signed by Dan. He signed his name and included #32!

Ouch!

There was a play during the 1991 World Series where Dan Gladden slide home and the Braves catcher Greg Olson was flipped on his head. Dan is known to sign photos of the play with “Play Hard, Slide Harder”. The play was memorialized on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Baseball Digest. Today I received my Baseball Digest from June, 1992 from Greg Olson and he signed it beautifully in blue Sharpie. I looked for a nice copy of the issue without a mailing label and finally found one and sent it off to Greg.

The Hawk, again

About a month ago I received a Baseball Digest signed by Andre Dawson. The Hawk was on a pair of covers and at the time I only had the one issue. I quickly tracked down the other issue and sent it to Dawson. Today I received the January, 1988 issue signed by Andre. He has one of the prettiest signatures in the hobby today. I am done with him until I find something else to collect that he is a part of!
