Today’s mail brought a pair of Rod Carew and a pair of Jack Morris signed cards. Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) had a signing with each and I mailed in a pair of Topps Project 70 cards for Carew and a Topps Now 2020 Turn Back The Clock 10.27.1991 and a 2021 Allen & Ginter card for Morris. I had asked that the Carew cards be signed with a nice gold paint pen. Well, they were but they turned out really opaque and you could not see the autograph unless you tilted it towards the light. I reached out to Tom and he told me he would have them redone next time he has Carew for a signing. I am pleased with that outcome so stay tuned on the Carew follow up down the road!

I recently saw a post on a Facebook autograph collecting group where David McNaughton listed a bunch of Hall of Fame postcards he had available. Today was a really cool day. Recently a friend of a friend was looking to sell a signed piece of memorabilia and my friend reached out for any help I could offer. I had fun doing it and the seller got more than they originally expected. I was surprised when a check showed up in the mail as part of the sale as thanks for helping. It was a real kind gesture. I took that money and found a Kirby Puckett signed 1994 Topps #607 to put it towards. That card arrived today! Pete G (pdg16 on SCN) was the high bidder in a few lots of Kirby’s personal signed cards that were auctioned a few years ago. These cards come with a signed letter as such from Kirby’s ex-wife Tonya. What really makes this card cool is it is the FINAL signed Topps Twins card I needed to complete my 1994 team set!
Hawk
Today was a fun day to receive a pair of Sports Illustrated magazines from 1983 signed by Andre Dawson. Years ago I had gotten a pair of these signed by Hawk at a show. Both in black Sharpie. When I first started sending requests via the mail, I sent one to an address I thought was for Dave Stieb and never received it back. I found out later that the address I sent it to was to someone else who was purporting to be Stieb so that person enjoyed my SI, marker and donation. I kept the other one I had until Mr Stieb had a private signing. He eventually did and I sent in the remaining SI as well as three others and received them back signed beautifully. Today I received two of those signed by Mr Dawson. Andre has a beautiful signature and inked these up real nice. I will eventually send the remaining one to him but not for a while. Andre now owns a funeral home, yep, a funeral home, in Miami. Interesting career change!
