Today I received a pair of 1963 Topps Earl Battey cards I needed for my Twins sets. Both are signed in blue and look great. They are #410 and #306. I purchased them from Brian Clapper (Facebook)/Wesley R George return address.

Sweet Music
Topps recently issued a set of painted cards by Andy Friedman. I found a seller selling them on eBay and bought a pair of the Kent Hrbek and Frank Viola ones. I thought they would cool signed. When I received the cards I was not overly impressed but sent them off to each former Twin player and received my first pair back today. Frank Viola signed both beautifully. His card is #21 in the set. Frank has not let me down with my recent requests to him (with donations of course)!
A Kitty and a Wizard!
Today was a fun day of mail. I received a trio of items I sent to Phil K (StLSparty on SCN) for a signing he was doing with Jim Kaat and Ozzie Smith. Ozzie’s autograph was added to the 09.28.1987 Sports Illustrated that was already signed by Dave Collins. If this rings a bell, it is because I already had one completed by both guys and this is a second one. The other two items which had Kaat’s autograph inked on them was a 7″x8.75″ photo card of Jim taken in Spring Training in a year later in his career with the Twins. It appears to me to be like what you could buy at a souvenir stand at Met Stadium in the mid to late 1970s. I also had a Sporting News from 09.10.1966 which featured him on the cover signed. All three things turned out great! It was the first time I sent in to one of Phil’s signings and the way things turned out, it won’t be my last!
A Rookie Finalist?
As I mentioned a couple days ago when I received my Bobby Dalbec baseball from Chris L (ChrisL999 on SCN), I received my other baseball from him today. This baseball is signed by Tyler Stephenson. Tyler is probably going to be an NL ROY finalist when they are announced. As with all the baseballs Chris gets signed for me, this one is perfect!
