Today I received one of the Triple Play tickets I had sent in for Gary Gaetti to sign a few months ago but this time Steve Lombardozzi scribbled his name on it. I now have two of the three players to be a part of the Triple Play on Opening Day 1988 in New York on the ticket. I need Kent Hrbek to complete the trifecta. The Twins lost Opening Day 1988, their first game after winning Game 7 of the World Series the prior October, but they did turn a memorable triple play.

Winnie The Twinnie
Today I received a card signed by Dave Winfield. Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) had a signing with Dave and I sent in his Topps Now Turn Back The Clock card from when he got his 3,054th hit and passed Rod Carew on the all time hit list. It was a meh autograph as it looks like Dave “mailed it in” signing the autographs. The photo on the card shows the home white pinstripes as it was taken at the Metrodome. If you notice the photos taken for the cards during the years the Twins were in the Dome, you will find that most of them were on the road or if you happen to get a home uniform it was probably taken in Spring Training. That is because the lighting was not the best for photos inside the Dome. This is one of the few Metrodome game action cards out there.
The Endy Around
Today I received a pair of Sports Illustrated magazines signed by Endy Chavez. Endy is the guy front-center on the cover of the 06.18.2007 issue along with five other people. Louis C (castleboys on SCN) had a signing with Endy and got these two signed perfectly for me!
A Wild Moose!
Today I received a pair of items for the collection.
The first was a box that had three baseballs I had sent to Lucky’s Sportscards for a private signing they were having with James “Wild Thing” Karinchak. James is a hard throwing reliever in the Indians organization who will be a top rated closer real soon. Vinny (owner of Lucky’s) also email me a photo of James holding the actual three baseballs he had just signed for me. I was really impressed with the service I received from Lucky’s. I got JSA on each ball too.
The other package was a Lanny Frattare scorecard I had sent to Mike Mussina. It was from the game on 06.14.2005 when Moose threw a complete game shutout against the Pirates at Yankee Stadium. I had sent a real nice note and even extra money to have it inscribed with “22nd CG SO” but all I got was “HOF 19”. Oh well. At least I got it back and got it back signed.
