Today I received the first of two packages from Chris R (rifon on SCN) who held private signings with Gary Gaetti and Jim “Kitty” Kaat. I have gotten Kaat a number of times over the years but did not realize until recently that I did not have him on my 1965 Twins team baseball. I included that baseball and now have 21 players from the 1965 Twins post season roster on it. I also sent in a 5″x7″ postcard from 1965 and Jim signed that real nice. I found a fairly beat up ticket from Game 1 of the 1987 ALCS and sent that in for Gary to sign. He signed it with “2 HR’s” and “1987 ALCS MVP” as I requested.
I realized after I mailed this in that I had some other tickets for Gary to sign so I sent those in separately and should receive those soon!

A Cool Day
Today I received a pair of Negro Leaguer Hall of Famer signed baseballs I purchased from John A. My friend Joel B is helping John sell his collection and sent me a link to his items. I saw these two and they have been on my need list for a long time and made a fair offer. They arrived today and are awesome. The Leon Day baseball is as close to perfect as you can get. The James “Cool Papa” Bell baseball is signed as his post-stroke baseballs are. The condition of the baseballs are amazing. I am excited to add these two to my collection!
Oh Balls!
My grandfather had a saying that when something did not go right, he would say “Oh balls”. Whether it was working in the yard or garden or playing cards or whatever. Today was a day worth saying “Oh balls” but not for something not going right! Today I received two packages and each contained a pair of baseballs! The first box had a pair of Oakland A’s signed baseballs. I noticed on Twitter that A’s Authentics posted that they just got in some Jesus Luzardo signed baseballs. Jesus is going to be a big time pitcher real soon so I thought I would purchase that one. And, why stop at one? So I added a Matt Chapman baseball to my order. Both arrived today. My other package was from Drew Coble. You may have noticed a couple posts recently regarding Drew and his wife Cindy. I originally wrote to Drew asking him to do a story ball on the 1987 ALCS pickoff of Darrell Evans but later found out the boxscores were all wrong and it was Joe Brinkman who was manning third base that game. After going back and forth via email with Cindy, I ended up sending a pair of baseballs to Drew to do storys on the 1991 World Series pick off play of Ron Gant at first base and also on George Brett’s Pine Tar Game, both of which he was involved in. I got them today and am really excited about them. They also included a cool 1987 Twins pennant and a pair of signed postcards and Drew included a nice note. I appreciate all the effort Drew, and especially Cindy, did in helping me acquire these baseballs.
Making Senzel of it
I have wanted a baseball signed by Nick Senzel for a while but all he signs is “N S” when he signs autographs. I wanted a baseball with his first and last names on it rather than initials. I also had a ticket from his Debut game I wanted signed at some point. I noticed that Armando Montiel from 24/7 Collectibles was having a signing with Nick and offered a limited number of full name signatures. I sent in the ticket and a baseball requesting a full name and an inscription on the ticket. I was not sure what to expect as I had never participated in any of Armando’s signing events but today I received the baseball and ticket signed perfectly. I am real pleased with the items and the cost and customer service Armando provided. I am excited to add these items of an up and coming superstar to my collection!
