A Faust Class Lady

Today I received a really neat reply to a sent baseball request. Nancy Faust, who was the organist for the Chicago White Sox signed my baseball and included a really nice note and a couple signed cards of herself. While looking up something a month or so ago, I came across an article about her and was impressed with how she progressed in-game entertainment at a baseball game. Check out her Wikipedia entry here. She signed the baseball with “White Sox Organist”. I hope to get a baseball signed by the Twins organist next. I have a card signed by Sue Nelson but not a baseball… yet.

My other package received was from Brett Bashinger via DEB Sports for a signing he had with former Twin Jack Savage. I had both Savage Twins cards signed but he is so tough and my cards were signed in black, I sent in a few cards. I got both his 1990 and 1991 Topps cards signed along with both Tiffany versions and the 1991 Desert Storm version. They turned out great!

Jerry Fos(not)now

Today I received my 1965 Twins team ball back from Jerry Fosnow. I think it is time to retire sending it out. Jerry signed it in blue Sharpie even though I provided him a blue ink pen. I think he did it purposely as the only place left for him to sign was by the Bud Selig Commissioner part of the ball and to get it to show up better than blue ink he used a Sharpie. It looks a lot better than if it was placed elsewhere. There is not any more room and even though I could get two more guys on it (good signers) I will retire it now.

Oh Balls!

Today was a fun day to add a couple cool baseballs to the collection. I noticed on Facebook that Chris Hoag was selling a bunch of game used items from a person who consigned them to him to sell. I was watching some of these items that I thought were cool but was not willing to pay the price they were listed at. On Thursday, the Twins Home Opener Day, Chris ran a sale. It brought the prices down to a little more palatable price. I offered a price for a pair of baseballs and his consignor accepted my offer. I met Chris to pick up the baseballs today since he lived in the city right next to mine. The baseballs I picked up are:

  • 2005 Opening Day Game Used Baseball signed by Joe Mauer with “04/08/05 Game Used”
  • Game Used baseball from 06.14.2015 which was the game Byron Buxton made his Major League Debut.

With the year Byron has gotten off to I am excited to have this baseball. I have a pair of signed and unsigned tickets from this game in Texas so this is a cool addition.
