Today’s mail brought a pair of Rod Carew and a pair of Jack Morris signed cards. Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) had a signing with each and I mailed in a pair of Topps Project 70 cards for Carew and a Topps Now 2020 Turn Back The Clock 10.27.1991 and a 2021 Allen & Ginter card for Morris. I had asked that the Carew cards be signed with a nice gold paint pen. Well, they were but they turned out really opaque and you could not see the autograph unless you tilted it towards the light. I reached out to Tom and he told me he would have them redone next time he has Carew for a signing. I am pleased with that outcome so stay tuned on the Carew follow up down the road!

The Puck Stopped Here
Today was a really cool day. Recently a friend of a friend was looking to sell a signed piece of memorabilia and my friend reached out for any help I could offer. I had fun doing it and the seller got more than they originally expected. I was surprised when a check showed up in the mail as part of the sale as thanks for helping. It was a real kind gesture. I took that money and found a Kirby Puckett signed 1994 Topps #607 to put it towards. That card arrived today! Pete G (pdg16 on SCN) was the high bidder in a few lots of Kirby’s personal signed cards that were auctioned a few years ago. These cards come with a signed letter as such from Kirby’s ex-wife Tonya. What really makes this card cool is it is the FINAL signed Topps Twins card I needed to complete my 1994 team set!
Josh’in Me
Today’s mail brought a couple packages but not the one I was expecting. I don’t think that one has been mailed yet. The two I got today make me happy just the same. Brian P (ka0grp on SCN) hooked me up with four Josh Donaldson cards from the Golf Tournament he graphed at. Those are:
2021 Topps #94
2020 Allen & Ginter #245
2020 Topps #372
2021 Allen & Ginter #324
They turned out great even with Donaldson’s crappy “signature”.
The other package contained a pair of JSA witnessed Ian Anderson baseballs. Alan Frederick on Facebook had a private signing with Ian and I sent in a pair of baseballs. I think Ian is a stud and winning the World Series just increases his visibility.
The Key!
Today I received a pair of items for the collection. If you are one of the very few who follow my blog, you might remember the Sports Illustrated from 11.02.1992 that I purchased recently that was signed by five Blue Jays players. Well, now it is signed by six! Jimmy Key was kind enough to sign it and return it!
My other item was a card that Courtland S (cort10 on SCN) got signed for me at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions golf tournament. I had sent some Josh Donaldson cards to three people who were going and one person had a change of plans. Courtland got me the 2021 Gypsy Queen #40 signed. I have another package on its way with a few more from the third person so stay tuned!
