A Sticky Mess?

I recently sent in a couple items to a private signing that my pal Robert T (lutherlafy on SCN) had with some baseball players from the Tulsa, OK area.  Today I received them and they could not have turned out any better!

As a follow up to my Tim McClelland “George Brett Pine Tar Game” story ball, Robert got me a story ball with George Frazier to write about his memories.  Before George played for the Twins and won a World Championship with them (1987), he pitched for the Yankees.  Once the baseball commissioner decided to have the Pine Tar Game resumed, George was to go out and pitch the top of the 9th inning against the Royals.  Keep in mind this was almost a month after the start of the game.  George took up two panels writing about his memory of the conclusion of the game.

Also being received and pretty much as cool as the Frazier ball was two full tickets to Dylan Bundy’s ML Debut game.  Dylan is a highly rated rookie in the Orioles organization and signed each ticket with “ML Debut”.

A couple awesome items from Robert today!  Thanks pal!

The Twins Trifecta

Quick.  Name the only person who played for, managed and broadcasted for the Twins?

Hint… he got two hits in one inning of Game 1 of the 1965 World Series…

Give up?  Frank Quilici.

Today I received a ticket stub from Game 1 of the 1965 World Series signed by Mr Quilici with “2 hits in one inning”.  Pretty neat addition to the collection!

A Royal-ly Great Day!

Today I received a great package from my man Kent B (doggle3 on SCN).  Kent has helped me in the past with getting items signed for the Royals and also their visitors.  So, for the last three series in KC I sent him some items to get signed.  He did not let me down!

He got the following:
Torii Hunter:  2004 Topps #704- The last Hunter Topps card I needed!
Francisco Liriano:  2012 Topps #517- The last Liriano Topps card I needed!
Hank Conger:  Debut ticket
Jason Kipnis:  Debut ticket
Lonnie Chisenhall:  Debit ticket
Orlando Hudson:  Cycle ticket
Mike Scioscia:  02.24.2003 Sports Illustrated
Prince Fielder:  08.29.2011 Sports Illustrated
Paul Konerko:  10.03.2005 Sports Illustrated

Real nice quality of autographs and great care taken with my items!  I look forward to next season to work with Kent to add more awesome items to the collection!

Hammer-Time!

Today Josh Willingham and Drew Butera were signing autographs at the Festival Foods in Brooklyn Park from 10:30 to 11:30. Cami and I decided to head up there and got there around 9am. We were numbers 79 and 80 in line. I tried to talk Cami out of getting Willingham to sign her baseball and to sign an extra card of mine but there was nothing doing there! So, we got up to the table and Drew Butera signed her baseball and asked where she got the pretty Twins shirt. Cami smiled and said Justice! I got a ticket from the game Drew got his first Major League hit in and asked him to sign it with 1st MLB Hit and he did. It turned out real nice.
Then we went to the Hammer. He said hi to Cami and signed her baseball. He then signed a 2012 Allen & Ginter card for me. We headed home happy!
I must say that the person who ran the event (I think she said her name was Julie) did an INCREDIBLE job. She kept everyone up to date and provided Klements brats, beverages, Old Dutch potato chips, Kemps ice cream. She was friendly and was happy to be there. Kudos to Julie and everyone else at Festival Foods!
