A Pyus of Tyus

This past weekend, Tyus Jones appeared at a card shop in Savage, MN.  My coworker lives in that area and worked out a deal to get 10 of the Tyus Jones regional Sports Illustrated magazines signed at the event.  He brought them to work today to give to me.  I am very pleased with how they turned out.  Tyus is a pretty tough autograph to get so I am glad it all worked out.  I have them to trade for baseball items I am looking for!

Manny Being Manny Going for Gold

Today I picked up a box with three Sports Illustrated magazines I had sent to Donnie D (macey225 on SCN) who was going to the National.  I mailed him my 1980 US Olympic Hockey team SI to get Mark Johnson on it (I am now down to needing just John Pavelich) as well as two Manny Ramirez SI’s.  I had read where Manny was signing things really crappy so I was a little nervous on what signature I would get on them.  Turns out Donnie hit a grand slam for me.  The signature versions I got, especially his first SI cover, look pretty good compared to what I had seen.  He also took care of getting Swartz Sports holograms on them exactly where I wanted them.
The SI’s Donnie got signed for me are:
03.03.1980 Mark Johnson
07.05.2004 Manny Ramirez
04.01.1996 Manny Ramirez
I could not be happier.  Thanks a ton Donnie!

Dal To The Max(vill)

Today I received my 1968 Sports Illustrated magazine signed by Dal Maxvill.  He is the last living person on the cover so I can now retire it.  Lezcano D (deano on SCN) got it signed for me at a recent signing event in St Louis.  Lezcano is a real friend of collectors as he is willing to take care of other collectors by getting autographs for the local shows for people.  My SI now has Tim McCarver, Bob Gibson, Mike Shannon, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Julian Javier, Dal Maxvill, and Red Schoendienst. It looks great!  Thanks Lezcano for your help!

A Weekend at Bernie’s

Today I received my October 19, 1970 Sports Illustrated magazine that I had sent to Doug Keating’s signing event with Bernie Carbo.  I now have five autographs on this issue and need just one more.  He is probably the easiest of all of them too!  Boog Powell.
Doug had it signed perfectly right where I wanted it.  It looks great!  Thanks Doug!
