New Kid on the Blauch

Today I went to a local card show to get some autographs of Chuck Knoblauch and one of Junior Ortiz.  I needed three cards for my Knoblauch Topps Twins card run and had sent these in to a number of shows just to find out Chuck never showed or whatever.  I was very skeptical if he would show up today but gave it a shot anyway.  I was not disappointed!
I was able to get Chuck to sign the following:
1994 Topps #555
1995 Topps # 250
1998 Topps #309
11.04.1991 Sports Illustrated
I also got Junior Ortiz to sign the same SI.

Chuck was very personable which was really cool.  The person before me had his Upper Deck rookie card to get signed and Chuck looked at it and told him that the picture on the card was taken when he was in Double A “with those old ironed on logo uniforms!”  Pretty neat he remembered that.  After signing my items he shook my hand and thanked me.

I also got a card signed for a friend of my buddy Joel who said it was one of the last few he needed to complete his set.  I was happy to help.

Before I left, I stopped by Denny McLain’s booth.  I bought a ball he had signed with stats and a story of when he gave up a 480′ home run to Mickey Mantle as well as a story of his first start and home run.  It is a pretty neat baseball and he graciously stopped to have a photo with me.  He was real
nice too!

I may go back tomorrow for Tony Oliva’s appearance.  Stay tuned!

The Donald

No, not that Donald…  I am referring to Don Denkinger.  When the latest issue of Sports Illustrated came out, it had a picture of Bucky Dent’s famous home run on the cover.  I bought a few issues and sent three to Mr Denkinger.  He kindly signed them perfectly.  I now have to get them signed by the other three in the photo… Carlton Fisk, Mike Torrez, and of course Bucky Dent.  The quest is on!

Don’t Be A Hader

Today I received a couple packages from Chris L (ChrisL999 on SCN).  The first package from him had a Josh Hader signed baseball.  I did not have an autograph of this super star reliever so I am excited to add it to the collection!
The other package had my March 30, 2015 Sports Illustrated issue that was already signed by Salvador Perez.  Chris was able to get Greg Holland to sign it and finish it.  I am pumped about both of these items!  Thanks Chris!

The Big Unit and a Couple 1st Round Draft Picks

Today I received a couple packages of baseball goodness.  The first package was from Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) where he had a signing with Randy Johnson.  I was able to get four items signed by Randy with three being Sports Illustrated magazines and the other being my 300 win baseball.  Randy included “303 Ws” on my baseball.  I now need only three more living 300 game winners to complete it (Maddux, Ryan, and Glavine).  The three SI’s that were signed was 03.31.1997, 11.02.2001, and 12.17.2001 which he completed the issue that was already signed by Curt Schilling.  They turned out great!  Tom does an amazing job!

The second package I opened was a pair of baseballs my pal Chris L (ChrisL999 on SCN) got at a recent minor league game.  The baseballs he got signed for me included Nick Pratto and Daniel Lynch.  Lynch included “2018 34th Pick” which was interesting.  Usually they write 1st round pick or something like that but since it was a sandwhich pick maybe that is why he wrote the pick number.  Either way, it is pretty cool.  Thanks Chris!
