I have a few George Brett Sports Illustrated magazines that need to be signed but his cost has increased substantially over the last few years. Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) posted a rare signing with George (I think he is down to one signing a year), so I sent in one of the SI’s I have signed by Mike Schmidt already. It came back today signed beautifully. I have a few more but will try to stagger them so my checkbook isn’t so hot with each signing!

A Pair of Completed Sports Illustrateds!
The 11.01.2004 issue of Sports Illustrated showed Mike Matheny sliding into second base with Mark Bellhorn jumping over him. It is a really cool cover photo. I had one already signed by both and another pair signed by just Bellhorn. When I saw that Michael T (Goodbyehalloween on SCN) had an upcoming signing with Matheny I figured I would send in the other two to complete them. I received them today and they look perfect! Great signatures with John 3:16 by Matheny.
Damon
I thought I had everything I needed signed by Johnny Damon when I found a listing that Jamie B (jamieblye on SCN) had for a private signing and looked to make sure. Turns out I did not have his signature on the 04.04.2005 Sports Illustrated magazine. It is the 2005 Baseball Preview Issue and has Derek Jeter pictured with Damon. I will never finish this because Jeter’s autographs are astronomically priced and if I was to spend the money on something there are a half dozen items I would get signed before this SI. It looks great though!
A Tough Signer
The April, 27, 1981 Sports Illustrated magazine pictures the Oakland A’s starting five pitchers inside their locker room. It shows Rick Langford, Steve McCatty, Brian Kingman, Matt Keough, and Mike Norris posing together. It is really tough to find this magazine signed by any of them much less all of them on the same issue. I was fortunate enough to get Mike Norris to sign one years ago and then found a seller selling an issue with Steve McCatty’s signature on it. Coliseum Kingz (Carlos Lopez) recently had a signing with Norris so I sent in the issue signed by McCatty already and received it back today. Mike Norris signed it perfectly. I now have two down and three to go! I know this one won’t ever get completed but it is ready if the other three decide to start signing.
UPDATE: I received a message on this post from a buddy of mine that Matt Keough has passed away. So, now I know this one will NEVER be completed! I guess that makes Matt a REALLY TOUGH signer now!
