Chuck Knoblauch came onto the baseball scene with a flourish in 1991. He was a fast and steady, top-of-the-order, on base machine early in his career helping lead the Twins to the 1991 World Championship earning Rookie of the Year on the way. Later on, he got the yips and could not throw the ball from second base to first base. It was later revealed he was a PED user and ended up having domestic issues. A sad tale really. But, a couple items from happier times arrived in my mailbox today. Chris R (rifon on SCN) attended a signing event and got a pair of items signed by Chuck. My December, 1991 Baseball Digest issue and 1991 Opening Night Twins at A’s ticket were both signed nicely by Chuck. His signature has really deteriorated from his playing days. Back then his signature looked like his name. Now it is a C with some loops. But, he did include “MLB Debut!” on the ticket. A couple nice items to add to the Twins collection!

No Bogged Down
The mail today included a 3,000th hit commemorative card and the February, 1984 Baseball Digest signed by Wade Boggs. He has always been a great signer for a fair donation. I think there are about three other Baseball Digest magazines that he is on the cover of that I have to track down. He included HOF 05 on the magazine!
The Hawk
Andre Dawson comes through again! I finally found a newsstand issue of the May, 1984 Baseball Digest magazine that features Andre Dawson on the cover and sent it off to him. I received it back today! I am still looking for the other Baseball Digest issue with The Hawk on the cover in a newsstand variety. Hopefully I will find that one soon! Stay tuned!
Let Your Fingers Do The Walking
I received a pair of autographs from Rollie Fingers today. A while ago I purchased a dozen or so different hand painted stamped and cancelled cachet envelopes with baseball players on them. They are painted in water color and look really neat. While I have a few from years ago in my collection, they are mostly Twins and not something that I specifically collect. But, when I got a nice price on these and they looked cool I grabbed the ones I figured I could get signed. Rollie signed his cachet as well as a Baseball Digest from March, 1982. Pretty cool to get a couple Hall of Famer autographs!
