Walk This Way

Larry Walker was recently inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He has started raising money for his favorite charity by signing autographs via mail. I had a pair of Hall of Fame postcards, with one postmarked on the back by the Cooperstown Post Office on Induction Weekend, and mailed them both to Larry to be signed along with the required donation amount. Today they arrived signed really nice! A nice way to knock off a HOF postcard need!

Winnie

I was fortunate enough to be at the game when Dave Winfield got his 3,000th hit off Dennis Eckersley at the Metrodome. It was the first of three 3,000th hits I was able to witness. I got a ticket from that game signed by Dave at Twinsfest years ago but he did not inscribe 3,000th hit. Tom O (orr23mj on SCN) had a private signing with Dave recently and I had another ticket from that game so I sent it in as well as a 09.16.2022 Topps Now card (incidentally commemorating Dave’s 3,000th hit) and a 2022 Allen & Ginter card. Today I received the items. The items were all signed great but Dave missed the inscription on the ticket. I contacted Tom and he will be seeing Dave in February so I sent it back and he will add the inscription then.

Not Bogg’d Down

Wade Boggs is a heck of a signer these days. He signs for a nominal donation and while he doesn’t usually add any inscriptions, he signs in blue Sharpie which makes items look great. I have a number of Bogg’s autographs, including a pair of 3,000th hit tickets, but came across a trio of the cards the Tampa Bay Devil Rays handed out at the game Wade got his 3,000th hit as well as the stub the person used to get into the game so I bought them. I sent the ticket and one of the cards to Wade and received them back signed today. I have wanted one of the 5″x7″ cards since I saw them right after the game but never got around to buying one until this lot came up for sale. I am happy to add these to my collection!

The Finger in the Cake

Ok. To be honest I had a much, much different title for this post but decided against it. A few weeks ago I noticed Brandon G was selling a couple stat balls for Rollie Fingers with the money going to a foundation that sponsors research for the illness his child is afflicted with. I have a bunch of Rollie Fingers autographs (who doesn’t?) but not a stat ball. I bought it and it arrived today. It has his name and HOF 92 on the sweetspot with three stats on the top panel and three stats on the bottom panel. It looks great displayed!
