Today provided a pretty neat return from Bert Campaneris. I found an October, 1969 issue that had a cool black and white photo of a play at the plate and did a little digging to see who the players were. I was able to identify the baserunner sliding home by his uniform and the ballpark. I knew it was Bert Campaneris and the play was at Oakland Alameda Colosseum. Since it was October, 1969, I guessed the photo was from late in the 1969 season. I went through a bunch of game logs for the A’s home games in September and August to see if I could identify a play where Bert was out at home. I could not but I found a few where he scored. I gave up and posted a picture as well as a closeup of the catcher’s partial patch in a Facebook group hoping someone could identify the team at least but received no replies. So, I sent the magazine to Campy and in my note asked who the catcher was. I received the magazine plus a 1972 Topps card he threw in signed for me along with a note stating the catcher was Ed Hermann of the 1969 Chicago White Sox. I thought it was pretty cool that he read my note and could remember the player. Sadly, Hermann passed away in 2013 so I won’t be able to complete the cover but at least the mystery is solved on who it is!

Ron (Again!) and Brooksie!
Today has been a great day so far for a few reasons but one of which was the mail. I received a pair of surprises in the mail today and am humbled by the generosity of others.
The first package I received was a large rigid envelope from Ron Kulpa. Ron had signed and returned a cool baseball for me last week but today I was surprised to receive an 8×10 photo personalized to me! Ron took the time to sign it and send it to me. That was really neat!
The other package from from a fellow schedule collector who mailed me an Orioles postcard featuring Brooks Robinson on it that was signed by Brooks. And, if that is not cool enough, TODAY is Brook’s birthday!
Fun day of mail all around! Hope yours was just as cool!
Such A Dell
Today I received a package from my buddy Greg N (justgreg on SCN) who got my a couple autographs this past baseball season. He got me a Randy Rosario debut ticket with “MLB Debut” and a sweetspot baseball signed by Jo Adell. Adell is ranked really high on the MLB top prospect lists. I am excited to add each of these! Thanks Greg!
My Favorite Martin
Today I received an MLB certified Martin Perez signed baseball from my buddy Rob. He asked me for a little assistance on an Excel project he was working on and to my great surprise and happiness, a beautiful Martin Perez baseball showed in the mail a couple days later. I told Rob he did not have to send me anything but he insisted. It is a cool addition to my collection. Thanks pal!
