Today’s mail brought a 1st home run ticket signed by Luis Robert. With the 2020 season schedule being all messed up due to COVID, it turned out there were only three games for the Twins that aligned to the original schedule. Those three games were in Chicago against the White Sox. The first game was Luis Robert’s ML debut. I went looking for those tickets too late and by the time I realized it, they were selling for over $500 so I gave up on that. I did, however, pick up a few of his first home run tickets which were the following day. I sold three and kept one to get signed and today it arrived. I got it signed by Bergie’s Sportscards who worked with Sigs Graphs (Dennis Sidler) on the signing. I got “1st MLB HR” on it along with Beckett authentication.
Gibby
Today I received something I have wanted since 1988 but never pulled the trigger on. A couple months ago I found someone selling a pair of 1988 World Series Game 1 ticket stubs along with a few other tickets. It was the most money I ever spent on tickets but I purchased them. I read where Detroit City Sports Memorabilia was having Kirk Gibson in for a signing so I quickly sent in the tickets. Today they arrived signed by Gibby with “88 Walkoff Homerun” inscription and a Beckett hologram on the backs. I am really excited to add these to my collection. They go so well with the Mitch Poole story ball on the event. I am thinking about getting Dennis Eckersley to sign them with “Back door slider” but will wait to see when he is doing a signing.
Rooks
My pal Chris L (ChrisL999 on SCN) is really really excited to get back to in person autograph chasing now that things are closer to pre-COVID access. He works hard for me getting highly rated prospects and MLB players on baseballs for me. Today I received the following beautifully signed baseballs that Chris got for me:
Coby Mayo
Colton Cowser
Joan Adon
Daniel Espino
I look forward to many more baseballs that Chris will get me this summer!
Hey Bert!
I have sent a few things to Bert Blyleven over the years since he started accepting mail items for signing along with a fee. You may recall I mentioned a Hall of Fame Induction Weekend press area ticket I acquired a little bit ago and got Pat Gillick on it. I sent it to Bert along with an original 1978 Focus on Sports card and received both signed beautifully today. Bert even included his typical post it note thanking me! Great stuff! Thanks Bert!
