A Day of Sports Illustrated Magazines!

Today I received two packages and both had signed Sports Illustrated magazines in them.

The first was an issue from October 21, 1974 that I had recently received back signed from Steve Yeager.  This time I got it back from Bill Buckner.  It is now signed by everyone I can distinguish on the cover.  All four players.  Time to retire the issue unless someone can determine who the A’s player in the picture with Steve Yeager is and he is a decent signer.

My other package contained four issues I purchased from Kevin H (justcrazy on SCN).  These were all obtained in person by him over the years.  This group of four includes:
Jim “Catfish” Hunter- October 23, 1972
Lou Brock- July 22, 1974
Bump Wills- March 28, 1977
Jim Rice- April 9, 1979
Nice lot of three Hall of Famers and a son of a baseball legend (Maury Wills).

Win Twins!

Today I received a 1974 Topps Twins Manager card I bought from Brian L (brl212 on SCN).  What makes this one special is that it is signed by Ralph Rowe and Bob Rodgers in addition to Frank Quilici.  I had one signed by Mr Quilici already but needed the other three.  This card has two of the other three I needed so it is a nice upgrade!

A Veteran and a Rookie

Today I received two packages that each had a baseball I purchased.  One had veteran pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka with his typical English autograph on the sweetspot and his name in Japanese on the right panel.  Jon B (boswell423 on SCN) hooked me up with that one.

The other package had potential Rookie of the Year Matt Harvey on it.  Derek A (urmomluvsme on SCN) had a pair of Harvey signed balls and sold me one.  I probably paid a little more than if I had waited because Harvey has a buzz about him now but I wanted to make sure I got one in my collection before he went really big time.
