Man, I love Mondays!

You might notice a theme from all these posts of mine.  I get most of the great mail on Mondays.  I am sure it is because there are really two days worth of “mail movement” that ends with delivery on Monday.

Today brought two packages from two different people who helped me out with autographs.  The first was a package of four baseballs signed by players in the Florida Instructional Leagues.  My guy Paul C got me the following:
Shane Watson
Jose Berrios
Alex Heredia
Stetson Allie
All are beautiful blue signatures on the sweetspot!

The other package was three Sports Illustrated magazines from a recent show in St Louis.  Lezcano D (deano on SCN) lives near St Louis and offers to help people obtain autographs at the shows in the area.  Lezcano got me the following:
Tim McCarver on 09.04.1967
Alex Johnson on 07.05.1971
and the following all on the 10.07.1968 Sports Illustrated I already had signed by Red Schoendienst:
Tim McCarver
Julian Javier
Mike Shannon
All autographs turned out awesome.

I am very pleased with both packages I received today!  Thanks guys!

Gran día de correo!

Today was a “Gran día de correo!”.  Or, in English, a “Great day of mail!”.

I added a really neat baseball to my Call Ball Collection.  I sent a request to Twins Spanish broadcaster Alfonso Fernandez asking him to write his excited call of Jim Thome’s 12th career walk off home run back on August 17, 2010.  It is a really neat baseball for the collection!

I also received five MLB prospects on baseballs my guy Paul C got me from the Florida Instructional Leagues.  He picked up the following baseballs for me:
Byron Buxton
Levi Michaels
Max Kepler
Blake Swihart
Michael Ohlman
These guys are all highly rated prospects and should be in the Major Leagues some day.

The Future Twins

Today I received three baseballs I recently purchased from Ryan C (rycomstock on SCN) of players who are highly rated prospects within the Twins organization.  The three I got are:
Byron Buxton
Miguel Sano
Oswaldo Arcia
The Buxton baseball included “2012 2nd Pick” as he was the second overall pick and the Arcia ball included his middle name Celestino.  I am excited to have these future guys in my collection.  One of the coolest parts is that Ryan put me in contact with a person living in Ft Myers, FL and is going to work on getting some more autographs at the Instructional League games.  Watch for more Twins prospects coming soon!

If You Send It, He Will Sign

Most of you who know me know that my all time most favorite movie is Field of Dreams.  I have been fortunate enough to have played catch at the movie site in Dyersville, IA with Caden a couple times in the past.  Great movie.  I had sent a baseball to James Earl Jones (Terrence Mann in the movie) a while ago.  He is always acting somewhere whether it is in a movie or in a Broadway play so he is hit or miss timing wise.  Today I received the baseball signed with his name and an inscription of Terrence Mann and Field of Dreams.  I had asked for the quote about baseball from the movie but he did not do that.

I also received a real nice package of items that I had sent to Kent B (doggle3 on SCN).  In it was a bunch of items I sent to him back when the Twins were coming to KC.  In all, he got me the following items signed:
Chris Parmelee 2 @ 1st HR tickets
Francisco Liriano 2006 Topps UH & 2012 Allen & Ginter
Alexi Casilla 2012 Topps Heritage
Lorenzo Cain SS OMLB
Salvado Perez Debut ticket
Mark Mustakas 1st HR ticket
Salvador Perez side panel OMLB
Jonathan Broxton side panel OMLB
He still has a pair of tickets for Eric Hosmer’s ML Debut and his 1st HR that he is still working on.  Thanks Kent!
