Not Juan Gone!

Today I received a Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine that I had sent to Puerto Rico.  Juan Gonzalez is on the cover of the April, 1994 issue and I sent it him.  Juan signed it perfectly in the blue sharpie I had provided.  This was the first time I mailed anything to Puerto Rico and round trip, including the time he had it in his possession was nine business days.  Good job Juan and good job USPS!

The Human Vacuum Cleaner

Today I received a really, really, really cool baseball signed by one of the coolest guys I have ever met.  A few weeks ago I had sent a couple magazines to Brooks Robinson and he was not happy with how one of them turned out so he told me to send him anything in the future and he would sign it for me for free.  I have always wanted a stat ball of Brooks and thought this would be a good time for it.  I still included a donation for him and today I received it.  He loaded it up with his amazing career statistics.  He wrote his name and HOF 1983 and the following stats:
1955-1977 Baltimore Orioles
2,896 Games
1,232 Runs
2,848 Hits
268 HRs
.267 Batting Avg
18x All Star
16x Gold Gloves
1970 WS MVP
1964 AL MVP
1966 AS MVP
It looks awesome and I am really excited to have this in my collection.  THANK YOU BROOKS!!!

Brooksie

Today I received a package I had mailed to Brooks Robinson to have him sign a couple magazines I picked up recently.  Mr Robinson signed my 1967 Maco Baseball Guidebook and a June, 1972 Sport magazine.  On the Sport, he signed it in a darker area and while it did not turn out the best, it was fine by me.  What makes this noteworthy is that Mr Robinson included a note basically apologizing for how it turned out and that I could send something to him and he would sign for free.  What a classy move.  Of all the players I have ever met in a signing or otherwise situation, Brooks and Harmon Killebrew are both far and away the nicest men I have met.  This just reinforces the class that Mr Robinson shows.  I will send him a baseball but I will also include a note and donation in the near future.  I am not going to expect him to sign something for free for me.  I am excited to add these magazines and will look for other items for him to sign down the road.  Thanks Brooks!

Three’s A Crowd

Today I received three packages of signed baseball goodies.  I am pretty excited about all three!

The first was an envelope of signed tickets that Steve S (cosmo on SCN) got signed for me at the Boston Red Sox Winterfest event.  Steve did a fantastic job on a real tough signing team.  He got the following tickets signed:
Andrew Benintendi- Debut Ticket
Eduardo Rodriguez- Debut Ticket w/”MLB Debut”
Blake Swihart- Debut Ticket w/”MLB” (I guess he does not know how to spell debut???)
Sam Travis- 2 @ Debut Ticket both with “MLB Debut”
Steve even included a signed bonus card of Cosmo!

The next package I received was a magazine I had sent to Dave Parker via Past Pros.  Dave signed my June 1979 Sport magazine.  It turned out great.

The final box I opened was three baseballs that Chris L (ChrisL999 on SCN) sent me that I purchased from him.  Chris does a great job on hard to get prospects and these are nice baseballs to add to the collection especially after Baseball America released their Top 100 Prospects list last week.  These baseballs are:
Brendan Rodgers
Estevan Florial
Alec Hansen

It was a pretty good mail day for the old baseball collection!
