Happy For Javy!

Today I went to the Iowa Cubs game with the kids and Caden’s baseball team.  We were all in Des Moines for a baseball tournament and it worked out that the Cubs were in town so we got forty tickets and everyone went.  It was a blast.  Cami, Caden’s friend Cayden, and I got to the ballpark just as the gates opened.  It had rained up to that point so the tarp was on the field and the players were not out taking batting practice.  The three of us waited where the players take the field and most walked past us.  Cayden and Cami saw that Corey Seager (the number five prospect in baseball) was going to the Dodgers’ dugout and decided to head there.  I had a ML debut ticket of Javier Baez that I was hoping to get signed so I waited halfway down the third base line watching him warm up.  Once he was done, we went to a couple kids and signed for them and posed for a photo and then signed my ticket.  I was really excited.  On the other side of the field Cayden and Cami were able to get Corey Seager.  They also got another player after the game.  Cami conned me into buying her a game used signed bat but Chris Valaika.
We all had a blast and the kids got on the scoreboard video screen twice!  Unfortunately for the Cottage Grove Wolfpack, they only won one game and lost three on the weekend.  It was fun though!

Wacha Wacha Wacha is All (Wain)wright!

Today I received a package of a couple items that look absolutely awesome.  Mark C (psugator01 on SCN) lives in Southern Florida and his home spring training team is the Cardinals.  I met Mark last summer when he was up to MN for the All Star Fanfest and he has gotten things signed for me in the past.  This spring he got me a ticket for Michael Wacha’s debut game signed in silver paint pen because the ticket is really dark.  It looks awesome.  And, if the looks of it isn’t enough, he got him to sign it with “MLB Debut”.  It is perfect.  I had also sent him my Sports Illustrated magazine from 05.27.2013 with the five Cardinals pitchers on the cover.  It was already signed by Shelby Miller and Lance Lynn and Mark got Adam Wainwright to sign it.  It now is signed by three of the five pitchers on the cover.  It was signed perfectly too in the perfect spot with the perfect marker.
I could not be more pleased with the fine job Mark did for me.  Thanks Mark!

Double Your Fun!

Today I received a pair of packages with some nice autographed items in them.

The first was a Sports Illustrated magazine I bought from Steiner Sports when they ran a recent sale on them.  I picked up a MLB certified, no label, 07.17.2000 issue of Jason Giambi.  It was a real nice issue.

The other package was the second half of items that Kent B (doggle3 on SCN) got for me in spring training in Arizona.  This box had the following:
Tommy Lasorda 03.14.1977 Sports Illustrated
Brett Lawrie 1st Career HR ticket
Yangervis Solarte ML Debut ticket
