Puck

Even though I already had one, I love the Kirby Puckett Weekend signed cards that were given away to kids that weekend… some directly from Kirby himself as he appeared at one of the gates at the Metrodome that weekend. Fernando Hoover listed a couple for sale on Facebook and I reached out to him for one. I received it today and am excited to add another to my collection!

Sam!

The MN Gophers baseball team sponsored the Cambria Classic the first weekend of March at US Bank Stadium. My son’s buddy pitched in one and my buddy’s son pitched in another game that weekend. I attended both and bought a ticket (something rare these days! A printed ticket!) and took a bunch of photos of the two players for their families. I mailed the ticket from my buddy’s son’s start to my buddy along with a dvd of the pictures I took and today I received that ticket signed by Sam Malec! Pretty cool item to add to the collection! I wish Sam and the entire Gophers team much success this season!

Lefty

Today was a fun day of mail from a Hall of Famer. I recently acquired a set of tickets from Steve Carlton’s final MLB win. It just so happened that he was with the Twins and it was at the Metrodome. I decided to send one of those tickets as well as a HOF Postcard (I cannot believe I did not have one already in the collection!) and received them back today. Lefty signed the ticket with “Final MLB Win #329” on the ticket and the postcard in the typical area at the top of the postcard. I am very pleased with how both turned out!

A Future President?

I have always been intrigued by presidential autographs but never had the courage to jump into them outside of signed books. They seem to be the easiest and cheapest way to get presidential autographs. But, for every George Bush or Jimmy Carter autographed book I have I have a Hillary Clinton and Michelle Bachman. I would love to have an autographed baseball but they always run with black Sharpies and they do not hold up very well on baseballs (although I have a couple that have stood the test of time quite well). Today’s mail brought in Ron DeSantis’ “The Courage to Be Free” signed copy. Premiere Collectibles does a great job with books and the one I bought came in a special presentation box and is numbered 2015/2800. Who knows if he will be president down the road but if he is, I have his signed book!
