{"id":505,"date":"2013-12-06T20:11:58","date_gmt":"2013-12-07T02:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kemmetmueller.com\/?p=505"},"modified":"2013-12-06T20:11:58","modified_gmt":"2013-12-07T02:11:58","slug":"my-favorite-umpire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kemmetmueller.com\/?p=505","title":{"rendered":"My Favorite Umpire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Game 3 of the 2013 World Series ended with an obstruction call, I knew I needed a ball about it. \u00a0I wrote a heartfelt letter about how I used Jim Joyce&#8217;s actions a few years ago on\u00a0how he admitted a mistake and handled it with class\u00a0to teach Caden the right way to react to a mistake and sent it to him with a request to write his memory of the call on the ball. \u00a0Today I received the ball and my donation back to give to his current favorite charity (my son&#8217;s piggy bank) and a real nice note. \u00a0The note actually means more to me than the baseball. \u00a0On the baseball he signed it and wrote the following quote:<br \/>\n&#8220;May the hand of a friend always be near.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe was my favorite umpire before this and his actions solidified his standing in my eyes.
