{"id":1476,"date":"2017-02-13T18:00:05","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T00:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kemmetmueller.com\/?p=1476"},"modified":"2017-02-13T18:00:05","modified_gmt":"2017-02-14T00:00:05","slug":"danny-thompson-what-a-shame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kemmetmueller.com\/?p=1476","title":{"rendered":"Danny Thompson, What a Shame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow! \u00a0What a package I received today! \u00a0My friend Kyle S (esiason14 from SCN) sent me a PSA\/DNA authenticated 1975 Danny Thompson card signed in blue sharpie. \u00a0It looks awesome. \u00a0It was one of my final two cards I needed from the 1975 Topps Twins set. \u00a0What a phenomenal gesture! \u00a0THANK YOU Kyle!<\/p>\n<p>You might wonder why I titled this &#8220;Danny Thompson, What a Shame&#8221;. \u00a0Back in the mid-1980&#8217;s the Twins had a give away where they gave away a 45 record that had the &#8220;Gopher Rouser&#8221; on one side and a couple Twins songs on the other. \u00a0Of course there was the &#8220;Win Twins&#8221; song but the other song was Terry Cashman&#8217;s &#8220;Talkin&#8217; Baseball&#8221; Twins version. \u00a0I had never heard the Twins version before and listened to it over and over on my parent&#8217;s old record player. \u00a0I learned a pair of things from that song&#8230; I learned that Jack Kralik had a no hitter and there was something about Danny Thompson that I had to learn about. \u00a0The lyrics were something like &#8220;Kralik had a no hit game. \u00a0Danny Thompson, what a shame.&#8221; \u00a0This was before google so I had to look it up in a couple Twins almanac type books I had. \u00a0I learned that Danny passed away in a truly sad manner, succumbing to leukemia.<\/p>\n<p>This is my very first Danny Thompson autographed card for my collection. \u00a0Thanks again Kyle!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow! \u00a0What a package I received today! \u00a0My friend Kyle S (esiason14 from SCN) sent me a PSA\/DNA authenticated 1975 Danny Thompson card signed in blue sharpie. \u00a0It looks awesome. \u00a0It was one of my final two cards I needed from the 1975 Topps Twins set. \u00a0What a phenomenal gesture! \u00a0THANK YOU Kyle!
