Another Nice Mail Day!

Today I received three packages from various people with autographed items in them.  One was a box full of baseballs gotten for me at the Arizona Fall League, one was a World Series ticket, and the other a couple photos I traded for.
The baseballs came from Christian B (hheroes10 on SCN) who has gotten me autographs from Arizona Spring Training and Fall League over the past number of years.  This group contained:
Jesse Winker
Hunter Dozier
Anthony DeSclafani
Eddie Rosario
DJ Peterson
They were all signed perfectly in blue on the sweetspot just how I like ’em!

A couple weeks I saw where Dan C (scfdff on SCN) was going to a signing with Jim Kaat in New York and was offering to take items.  I had a Game 2 of the 1965 World Series ticket I had been wanting to get signed by Jim for a while.  I sent it to Dan asking if he would ask Jim if he would write “Complete Game Winner” on the ticket too.  Dan emailed me right after the signing and said Jim’s agent was saying no inscriptions but he asked and Jim told him it was such a unique item he would inscribe it.  Today I got the ticket and COULD NOT be happier!  It turned out AWESOME!

The other package was a tube with a pair of photos.  Bryan W (bryanwood on SCN) contacted me about an NFL Duke football I posted on SCN a long time ago for trade.  He was going to see someone a couple days later and wanted it for the signing.  Since I bought the ball in hopes of having Brett Favre sign it when he was a Viking and it never happened, it was just gathering dust so I looked over his trade items and picked out a couple cool signed pictures.  The first picture is an 8×10 of the fight between George Brett and Graig Nettles in the 1977 ALCS signed by both of those guys.  I showed it to Caden and we watched the video of it and he wanted that photo so I got that one.  The other one I received is a really cool 11×14 of Phil Niekro on the mound in mid-windup about to throw a knuckleball while playing for the Yankees.  What makes this photo so cool is there are five inscriptions on the photo all signed in perfect silver paint pen.  Cami saw that picture and said she wanted that one.

All in all it was a really nice mail day!

What a Hamm!

Today I received a signed card of the VERY elusive Pete Hamm.  Brian F from ABC Unlimited had a private signing where Pete signed just a couple cards for him and he then contacted the Twins collectors to see if we wanted to purchase one.  I jumped at the opportunity as he is on tough autograph to get.  It is a 1972 Topps signed in beautiful blue fine point Sharpie.

Another envelope I received was some cards I traded for on SCN.  I received a message from Paul H (hartwick11 on SCN) that he needed a couple cards I had on my trader list for some sets he was working on.  He did not have any Twins cards I needed but decided to ask my friend Greg N (justgreg on SCN) who has gotten me numerous autographs in the past without asking for anything in return to check out his trader list to see if he needed any cards Paul had on his list.  Greg found a pair so I asked for those as well as a couple more to add to my trader list.  In all, I received the following cards from Paul:
1985 Topps Ernie Camacho (for Greg)
1985 Topps Matt Millen (for Greg)
1975 Topps Twins Team signed by Frank Quilici
1990 Upper Deck Juan Agosto
1994 Upper Deck BAT (?) Ken Brett

It is always awesome to mark of a toughie from the Twins want list!

Yet More Rookies and a Winning Bet

Today was another fun day of mail.  My friend Paul C hooked me up with another batch of first round draft picks and prospects on baseballs.  Today I received from him the following:
Michael Fulmer w/”1st Rd 2011″
Dustin Lawley w/”Florida St MVP 2013″ as he was the Florida State League MVP this year
Kevin Plawaki w/”2012 1st Rd”
Pierce Johnson w/”1st Round 2012″
Another great batch of baseballs from Paul!

My other package was from my friend Mike M (tigernut on SCN).  This season, as we have done in the past, we have a running bet that for each series between the Twins and Tigers, the losing team would send the winning team a card from their SCN tradelist.  I had won once early in the season and did not have a chance to pick out a card.  Mike won too many over the rest of the season until this last series when the Twins won the series so I finally got to pick a card.  The two cards I picked out were signed by Rich Becker and Bobby Richardson.  Thanks Mike!  GO TWINS!!!
